21 yr old Manju died from haemorrhage walking far across mountain tracks to the closest hospital. In rural Nepal Health Services are constrained by lack of facilities/harsh terrain/inadequate roads/lack of transport/ natural disasters e.g. landslides. Only 51% of births have skilled attendance compared to 90% of those in urban areas, resulting in much higher neonatal and maternal deaths. Funds are now needed to establish the newly built Health & Birthing Centre to make it safely operational.

The Nestling Trust has worked successfully with local government in funding the construction of the first H &B Centre in this area. In collaboration, we continue to support this project. Funds raised now will enable the centre to become fully operational (providing safe birthing facilities, ante/postnatal care, basic healthcare, immunisations, wound care, treatment of acute/chronic illness, family planning and health education) by securing appropriate staff, equipment, and emergency access road.
