Lifeshare hosts Manchester's only 7-day indoor Christmas support for rough sleepers, the socially isolated, and those in food and fuel poverty. Last year served 2,200+ meals and given the Cost of Living Crisis in the UK we expect demand to rise to unprecedented levels in 2023. Meals, showers, hope.

    Situation

Over Christmas many support organisations close leaving the vulnerable people of the city to fend for themselves over the holiday period which can lead to further social isolation, decline of mental health, and a negative effect on physical wellbeing, particularly for those rough sleeping in the cold. This year more people than ever will struggle to pay bills and keep warm and fed in the winter due to the cost of living crisis. Already our service has seen double the clients we did last year.

    Solution

Lifeshare's Christmas Project is a lifeline to our guests. We open from the 23rd to the 29th serving three hot, fresh meals each day. We also offer hot showers and a 'shopping trip' in our clothing bank to give guests not just physical care but also a mental boost. We partner with a variety of support including nurses, hairdressers, barbers, veterinarians, art therapists, entertainment, and cold weather accommodation teams to put all of the support in one place for those that need it most.
