Today, women and people who are pregnant or giving birth are less likely to report getting the help they need during labour, birth and postnatally; less likely to get information to help make informed decisions about their care; and less likely to feel that their concerns are taken seriously. This is directly associated with long-term under-investment in maternity services. Only 1% of maternity services are rated as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, which means that 99% could improve.
