Creative and diverse solutions are needed for a more equitable and just future, however environmental overwhelm prevents many people from participating in making change. In 2019 we declared a climate emergency and have undertaken sector leading work, but our heritage building is expensive to run and difficult to retrofit and the culture sector is in deep financial crisis which makes investment in sustainability challenging.

Cultural organisations are uniquely placed to help people to re-imagine a better future. A recent survey showed 77% of audiences think cultural organisations have a responsibility to address the climate emergency, but only 17% think they are doing it. We will showcase stories of environmental change, support our community of creatives to make change in their own practice, and decarbonise and retrofit our listed building to improve energy efficiency and increase comfort for artists and audiences.
