Situation
Trees and forests are central to earth's life support system. They also offer nature-led solutions to some of our most urgent global crises such as climate resilience, community cohesion, sustainable livelihoods and gender equity. Yet we destroy an area of forest the size of London each week. Along with these precious forests, ecosystems and biodiversity, we are also destroying the associated indigenous knowledge and the local communities that co-exist with forests.
Solution
We address forest loss through biocentric, community-based restoration alongside behaviour change and awareness raising. We are tackling the urgent need to halt forest loss and also working towards systemic change to address the root causes. Our holistic approach places nature at the centre of all our decision-making. We work in Africa, Latin America and Asia restoring forests through reforestation and agroforestry and protecting them through the development of alternative livelihoods.
