In the UK, 92% of theatre audiences identify as white. Very few people who go to the theatre identify as D/deaf or disabled, working class, low income, or from the Global Majority (including Black, East and South East Asian, Latin American, Gypsy and Roma people). We want to change that by removing the financial barriers that many people face to going to the theatre. We are also working on other strategies to enable more people to experience exciting international theatre.

With your support we will distribute 500 £5 tickets for LIFT 2024, to start removing those financial barriers to access. However, we recognise that lower-cost tickets are only part of the solution. To ensure that these tickets reach the people who need them, we will work with London venues, charity partners, and employ two Audience Connectors with deep community connections. We will also ask audiences about the reasons why they don’t attend the theatre, so that we can address those issues too.
