Child Bereavement UK helps children, young people, parents and the wider family to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. We provide training to professionals in health and social care, and other sectors enabling them to provide the best possible care to bereaved families.

    Situation

Bereavement support can help children and their families find ways to cope with their grief and rebuild their lives after the death of someone important to them. Since the pandemic, there has been a sustained demand for our Helpline with calls being longer and more complex as people cope with bereavement alongside challenging life circumstances. Our aim is to make sure as many families as possible can find support when they need it.

    Solution

Child Bereavement UK’s Helpline offers support via telephone, email and LiveChat. For many bereaved families and professionals seeking information and guidance, the Helpline is their first contact with the charity; for some it’s the first time they’ve been able to articulate difficult feelings and feel heard. As one of our Helpline Practitioners said: “We’re often the first to hear someone say words they’ve been unable to say to anyone else.
