Insects underpin all life on this planet. Yet only 10% of species have been identified and studied. At the same time there is a growing gap between the urgency to increase insect research and the skills needed to support this. Your donations could help fund the next generation of entomologists.

    Situation

Insects play a vital role in addressing global issues. They are crucial for our ecosystems to function and for our food security. Yet insect science and research skills have become vulnerable, with a lack of opportunities for children and young adults to learn about insects and access the training needed. More than ever, we now need those skills to tackle issues such as insect population declines at a time of climate and biodiversity emergency. We need to support young people to study insects.

    Solution

We will expand our education programmes across the UK and the globe to reach more children and young people and inspire them about the world of insects. We will grow and diversify our project grants and awards programme to support early career insect scientists to enable them to thrive as researchers and science communicators. Our strong links with educational partners will further our work, encouraging and enabling greater numbers of young people to choose entomological degrees and internships.
