    Situation

Lymphoma is a complex blood cancer which is difficult to diagnose, difficult to understand and psychologically challenging to live with. It is largely only treatable by chemotherapy or radiotherapy, resulting in long-term physical and mental effects, such as cancer related cognitive impairment, chronic fatigue and neuropathy. Certain treatments also increase the risk of other serious long-term conditions. Our project will aim to prepare individuals to avoid or overcome complications like these.

    Solution

Our new preparing for treatment service will be an education and self-management support programme for people who have been recently diagnosed with lymphoma and will be starting treatment quickly, as well as those who are on active monitoring with treatment ahead. The programme will take a holistic approach to the specific needs of lymphoma patients by providing essential information and promoting a positive healthy lifestyle, preparing them for treatment and improving health outcomes.
