Classical music is battling for relevance – often viewed as elitist and lacking in diversity and accessibility. Traditional concerts invite older audiences but fail to attract the next generation of music-lovers, damaging the talent pipeline for orchestras like Southbank Sinfonia. Innovative concert experiences offer a bridge to classical music that can ignite the passion of new audiences and inspire the next generation of virtuosic musicians. However, these projects are often cost-prohibitive.

Described by The Times as “the future of classical music,” Southbank Sinfonia at St John’s Smith Square is a change-maker, encouraging its graduate musicians to rewrite the classical music rulebook, to embrace unconventionality, and to be part of unique opportunities like our innovative #ConcertLab series, which creates new musical experiences and encourages engagement from more diverse audiences, and our ‘The Snowman’ story-telling concerts.
