The impact of misinformation is felt by everyone. Disinformation is used to spread hate and deepen divisions. Of the 42 MPs we’ve asked to correct the record this year, only 12 have done so. This isn’t good enough! In a world with more information than ever before, it’s hard to know what to trust. And trusting the wrong thing can have real-world implications; especially in an election year. When our MPs and media make incorrect claims, and when false and misleading information is spread online, we all suffer.

We fact check claims made by politicians, public institutions and journalists, as well as viral content online. We then follow up on our fact checks. By asking people to correct the record when they get things wrong, we can reduce the spread of bad information. We’re developing world-leading technology and new research to spot repeated false claims and investigate tackling misinformation on a global scale. And we campaign for the changes that will make bad information rarer and less harmful.
