Isolation & social anxiety amongst young people remains at an all time high. They are struggling to engage with traditional methods of support. In response, The Door is continuing to develop remote support including telephone mentors & web chat to connect them with each other & professionals.

    Situation

For young people the impact of the pandemic is not over. For many the years in lockdown make up over 20% of their life and as a result many are experiencing poor mental health. Often taking the form of social anxiety and isolation leading to school refusal, high-risk behaviours, reduced confidence and low self worth.

    Solution

The Door has over 30 years experience providing young people with safe spaces to be heard, feel they belong and be empowered to move forwards. Over this time we have expanded and adapted our services to provide young people with the support they need in the way they need it. In this digital age it is so important to be able to offer young people access to positive role models in a way they feel safe to engage. For 2023 this looks like telephone mentoring, web chat, video calling & online videos.
