We are expanding our education work in response to a well-publicised curtailment of the musical curriculum in schools and the impact this is having on musical aspiration. The number of pupils taking A-level music is down by a third since 2014 and GCSE applicants have come down by 17%. Worcestershire has very deprived areas and for some children, there is very little chance to experience music live, see piece of music and inspire curiosity.

Research shows that learning music helps pupils to settle into schools and settings as well as access the whole curriculum more easily. With that in mind, 'Nature Sings' is a three strand project aimed at local deprived area primary schools giving workshops and expert tuition. The project would culminate in a Big Sing at Worcester Cathedral in March 2024 and during the July festival allowing children to showcase their talents in a magnificent setting.
