Christmas Heroes raises money to bring the magic of Pantomime to children and their families in our community, who otherwise may not be able to visit us. For every £19 we raise, we can bring one person to see our festive family Pantomime, Cinderella, with a VIP ticket, a programme, and an ice cream.

    Situation

Pantomime is often a child’s first experience of theatre, but for many children and their families in Kirklees a festive trip to the theatre just isn’t possible. Our theatre is in an area of high poverty and low arts engagement. As the only professional theatre in Kirklees, we are committed to removing barriers to engagement for our local community. As the cost-of-living crisis continues, it’s more important than ever that we create free creative opportunities for local children and families.

    Solution

Working closely with dozens of local charities, we will invite children and families from across Kirklees to our theatre to enjoy a festive treat and watch our Christmas Pantomime. We will provide the opportunity for a joyful and festive experience at an often-difficult time of year. We will support attendees with their visits, with pre-show visits and information about the show, for those who perhaps don’t have English as a first language, or who may have never been to our Theatre or Pantomime.
