Working with our Nigerian partners, we protect and support abused children, many who have been accused of witchcraft. We provide medical, emotional and legal support, along with a safe and secure shelter. The shelter is now expensive to rent and in poor repair and we plan to build a new safe space.

Child Witchcraft Accusations are a humanitarian crisis that should not be happening in this age. Since April 2017 over 122 survivors of child abuse have been rehabilitated in our emergency shelter. However, the current building is small, rent is rising and costs spiralling for the ever-leaking roof, collapsing floor, leaky plumbing and sub-standard offices for the skilled staff. These are poor conditions in which to save and transform the lives of vulnerable and stigmatised children.

We will build a new, purpose-designed shelter, to allow the children to recover safely. The building will also have play areas, treatment rooms and offices for the specialist staff and lawyers to secure convictions for perpetrators and better futures for the children. Our long-standing partners and experts, Basic Rights Council Initiative have acquired a piece of land for the shelter, so all we need to do is provide funds to enable this much-needed and long dreamt-of building to be realised.
