A campaign to transform community attitudes & behaviours towards marginalised groups, combining - Theatre for a Change's nationally broadcast, well-loved interactive radio programme in Malawi; with the power of stories, told by women & girls with lived experiences of being oppressed and excluded.

Situation
Women & girls in Malawi face multiple, intersecting barriers to accessing the information, services & support that would enable them to be educated, healthy, economically empowered & safe. Some are more invisible than others, & disregarded & stigmatised in existing service delivery and community structures. There is a dearth of understanding of the experiences, challenges & needs of these less visible groups, & thus a lack of services, empathy and dignity from those in power & in the community.
Solution
Theatre for a Change’s vision is of an equal world, where everyone has choice & control over their bodies & can use their voices freely & without fear. We will invest in bolstering our national interactive radio platform 'Tisinthe' (Let's change!) to elevate the voices and stories of the most marginalised women & girls at high risk of HIV, teen pregnancy and child marriage and sexual and gender based violence - those out of school, with disabilities, LGBTQIA+, sex workers, refugees & prisoners.
