Disadvantaged young people are 50% more likely to be unemployed than their more advantaged peers with equal qualifications. We aim to support 250 young Londoners by one-to-one coaching and assistance, empowering them to overcome barriers, pursue their dream careers, and fulfil their true potential.

London's youth unemployment rate currently stands at 14.2% (Trust for London 2023), over three times higher than the national rate of 3.9% (ONS 2023). Socio-economically excluded young people face significant barriers to education and quality employment as disadvantaged peers with identical qualifications are 50% more likely to be NEET (Impetus 2019). At City Gateway, we provide support and guidance for all young people to achieve their ambitions and become the arthur of their own stories.

Because we know qualifications are only half the story, we will provide wrap-around one-to-one coaching to 250 young people on our national benchmark-beating education and training programme. Coaching offers a safe, supportive space for young people to talk through issues in their personal lives, overcome barriers, develop core personal capabilities like confidence, resilience and self-awareness and provides tailored progression and job search support – all to help learners secure employment.
