We are seeking funds to support our first ever Youth Board, embedding the voice of young people at the heart of our work at The Rep. We hope to enable our Youth Board to deliver self-led work, gain vital experience, and for other young people in Birmingham to benefit from their projects.

Situation
Currently, the young people we engage with are not meaningfully involved in the design of our activities. We recognise the urgent need to place authentic, representative youth voices at the heart of our organisation in order to inform our strategies and programme choices. Many young people felt disenfranchised during and post the Pandemic and cuts to funding and provision mean there are fewer opportunities for the next generation to develop key skills and experience for their future.
Solution
We have recently created our first ever Youth Board to give young people (aged 13-25) the chance to have a meaningful impact on the vision and direction of The Rep. It will provide members with unique opportunities to develop skills, design their own programmes and support their peers. To maximise its effectiveness, however, additional funding is needed. We want to give youth board members agency over their own activities and ensure we reach and engage with as many young people as possible.
