AT The Bus delivers mental health support directly to young people in school where they are best placed to access it. Using art and creativity to build self-esteem, confidence, resilience and independence, our group sessions take place in bespoke studios or on our converted double-decker bus.

One in six children and young people have poor mental health and many struggle to attend or engage at school. The services that could help them are overwhelmed. Throughout 2022, evidence emerged to show a dramatic deterioration in children’s mental health. The re-opening of schools after Covid revealed that repeated lockdowns and enforced isolation had resulted in a crisis in children’s mental health which continues to be further heightened by the cost of living crisis.

Children, families, and schools urgently need support but there are few providers working in schools to help children in need. "AT The Bus goes to the heart of what is needed by schools, in providing a place where young people can take time out, explore issues that are important to them and be heard. This special space helps them to think creatively, to develop strategies that work and to fulfil their unique potential." Marion Stevenson, Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire.
