Situation
The Lyric has a long & strong track record of offering inclusive theatre for the disabled, children and young people with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and those facing challenges in classroom learning. However, we would like to update and improve the offer and opportunities in our theatre for young people (0-25) regardless of their personal circumstances, disability, lack of knowledge or special needs.
Solution
We will dedicate 2024 to maximising inclusivity and access for all young people including -'chilled' performances for each show with integrated and autism-friendly sign-interpretation -providing free acting classes for people with disabilities -500 free tickets for carers -1000 more £5 tickets for Young Lyric members (0-25 yrs) -funding a Creative Access course in a local Pupil Referral Unit -25 bursary FREE classes -provide relay screens outside the auditorium -10 new hearing loops
