Marginalised women face significant barriers to getting help, including stigma and inflexible systems. One25 works with Bristol’s ‘hidden’ women, offering a mixture of long-term care and practical crisis support. Together, we tackle the disadvantages that prevent women living safe, fulfilled lives.

Women facing multiple disadvantages are at risk of violence and isolation - but when they turn to services for help they can face long waits and judgement about drug use or street sex-working, pushing them further away. The number of women reporting violence to us has more than doubled (110%) since the start of the pandemic. Last year 74% of women experienced increased poverty due to the cost-of-living crisis and we saw a 44% rise in women accessing our night outreach van for food and support.

One25 helps women tackle both urgent needs and long-term challenges. Services are designed to deal sensitively with trauma and women can tailor the support they receive. Every night our outreach van gives practical help to women who are street sex-working, including food, first aid and safety advice. On weekdays women meet specialist caseworkers who help them connect with services including housing and the NHS. Last year we supported 165 women to be safer and 135 to link with external services.
