Across the world LGBTI+ people face extreme levels of stigma, persecution and violence. 67 countries still criminalise consensual same-sex relationships and in nearly half of these nations discriminatory laws and attitudes were first imported and implemented under British colonial rule. This means the prejudices of the past have very real consequences in our present. The best solutions are homegrown, but often activists and human rights defenders struggle to access the resources they need.

Kaleidoscope Trust works with leaders in the UK and activists and human rights defenders in countries across the Commonwealth and beyond to change hearts and minds and help ensure that LGBTI+ people everywhere can lead free, safe and equal lives. We prioritise making sure that activists, change-makers and community organisations around the world have the funding, resources, connections and training they need to do their work. And we directly fund projects which they know will influence change.
