We are raising funds towards supporting our 2024 female empowerment programme in Nepal, Alongside support to school children and vulnerable young women through education and training, we set aside a proportion for the inevitable natural disasters and for restoration of Nepal's natural environment.

Situation
We are addressing four problems: 1. Poor educational provision for girls at community schools. There are high dropout rates either because children cannot cope with the academic challenge or, at puberty, the lack of provision for girls who are menstruating. 2. A lack of training and employment opportunities for vulnerable women, including deaf women. 3. Environmental degradation, including deforestation. 4. Nepal is at high risk of natural disasters, including earthquakes and floods.
Solution
1. By providing educational support through extra tuition and help with homework at a new Community Learning Centre for children from a Dalit ("untouchable") community in the southeast of Nepal. We will issue "dignity pads" (reusable sanitary pads) to schoolgirls, made by vulnerable women at our Lily's Leaves social enterprise. 2. We will train and employ women at two Lily's Leaves centres 3. We will restore a forest in south Nepal. 4. We will continue to build an emergency relief fund.
