Situation
Children with SEND who are living in poverty are suffering due to the cost-of-living crisis. 75% of social workers we surveyed said the crisis is increasing the seriousness of cases for children with SEND. The impact on children was described as ‘severe’ by 94% of those social workers. With resources slashed due to cuts and overwhelmed services and rising costs of living, children with SEND say they feel unworthy of support. We need to act now to protect their health and future wellbeing.
Solution
We urgently need to ensure that children with SEND receive support. Our Champions for Children 2023 appeal aims to raise £3.5m, and with a quarter of children supported by our projects having special educational needs and disabilities, your donation will help to support 68,000 disadvantaged children, including 17,000 children with special educational needs and disabilities.
