UK Youth are focused on our strategy of unlocking youth work as the catalyst of change. To achieve our vision we are working hard to fund, develop, and connect the youth sector, while advocating alongside youth workers and young people for a government supported strategy that will secure its future.

Youth centres have always played a crucial role for young people, especially for those without stability at home. However, government cuts over the last decade have led to a 71% loss of youth services, leaving young people with fewer safe places to go, opportunities to learn or engage. The impact of the pandemic has further exposed this fragility as a 66% increase in demand met a loss of 4,500 youth workers. Now the cost-of-living crisis is further threatening the survival of this sector.

Sitting at the heart of a network of over 8,000 youth organisations, UK Youth is in a unique position to change the situation. We are committed to ensuring all young people can benefit from greater choices and opportunity, and to solve the crisis facing young people we will: 1. Tackle the lack of investment into the youth sector 2. Increase cross-sector understanding of how youth work makes a difference 3. Increase opportunities to embed effective solutions for high-quality youth work.
