Help nature's recovery by restoring important grassland sites in Monmouthshire, creating a network of mighty meadows that draw in carbon and host thousands of flora, fauna and fungi. With your support and local volunteers, we will manage and monitor meadows to restore over 200 acres.

    Situation

The climate and nature emergencies are inextricably linked. Climate change is driving nature’s decline, and the loss of wildlife and wild places leaves us ill-equipped to reduce carbon emissions and adapt to change. We've lost 97% of our meadows since the 50s. When healthy, these natural habitats can reduce the risk of flooding and boost our health and wellbeing, as well as maintain healthy soils, clean water and the pollinators needed for our food.

    Solution

Engaging local volunteers, we will manage four grassland sites in Gwent traditionally to create mighty meadows rich in species: creating a permanent pollinator habitat and food and homes for other invertebrates, mammals and bats, and birds. These mighty meadows will also store carbon and are good for our health. We will carry out sites surveys to build a rich picture of the health of our local wildlife to inform management and inspire others to protect and restore their local green spaces.
