Situation
There are an estimated 122,000 victims of modern slavery in the UK. Each week men, women and children are forced to work or commit crimes against their will. Calls to the Helpline are at an all-time high according to our 2022 figures, with number of potential victims doubling in the last year compared to 2021. Victims can be vulnerable due to language barriers, disabilities, trauma, or financial instabilities and are controlled through abuse, threats, isolation, and financial control.
Solution
Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, and available in over 200 languages, Unseen’s Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline offers free guidance to potential victims, the public and frontline workers. Our expert Helpline Advisors support victims, building trust and explaining their rights, signposting support services where they can get help to recover. Referrals are also made to law enforcement to aid investigations into exploiters. This support helps victims escape exploitation.
