Every day, people living in poverty become needlessly blind because of conditions that can be treated, like cataracts. Your miracle gift of sight could help people with vision problems to access sight-saving surgery, so they can gain an education, support their families, and build a brighter future.

    Situation

Kyle, 7, loves school, but cataracts cloud his future. His mother said, “we’re actually fearful about our child’s condition, we want Kyle to finish his study to graduate and for him to be able to be happy and achieve whatever he hoped”. Cataracts can be treated but for people living in poverty, the cost of surgery is out of reach. Worldwide, an incredible 3 out of 4 people who are blind don’t need to be and for a child, like Kyle, losing his sight can mean losing the chance to build a future.

    Solution

Nobody should be blind just because they’re poor. Your donation will restore sight and prevent avoidable blindness for people in the world’s poorest places by helping to fund sight-saving treatments like cataract surgery and support community awareness and screening programmes to ensure that children and adults with eye problems are identified quickly. Your support will also help train local eye health workers to ensure people can access good quality, inclusive eye health services.
