Every child deserves a creative childhood, but for families with disabled children, a visit to the theatre or drama class can seem daunting, even unachievable. Please support Polka’s Access Programme to ensure children with disabilities can have just as magical and memorable a theatre experience.

    Situation

Children are experiencing all kinds of challenges, from the pandemic to the cost-of-living crisis. Consequently, we are seeing a rise in stress, anxiety, and isolation amongst children, which has had a particularly hard impact on those with access needs or disabilities. Children need creativity in their lives now more than ever.

    Solution

Polka’s Access Programme ensures children with disabilities can experience the magic of theatre, where they can make friends, learn and have fun. We offer a range of adapted performances (including BSL-interpreted, captioned, audio-described, and relaxed), bespoke Creative Learning workshops for schools and groups of children with disabilities, and one-to-one support for children with additional needs within our standard programme of workshops. This Christmas, we are committed to raising £30,000 to deliver this programme. By donating through the Big Give, you can help us make every Polka experience accessible and inclusive, and ensure that all children have equal access to arts and creative experiences.
