This campaign has now closed

We want to increase understanding among pregnant women of the dangers of pre-eclampsia and stress the importance of knowing and recognising the signs and symptoms. In order to do this we need to also raise awareness of APEC and the resources we have on offer for the public and for professionals.

    Situation

Pre-eclampsia is a condition which develops in pregnancy. Pre-eclampsia deaths of women in the UK have increased four-fold in the last decade - urgent action is needed. APEC are raising the awareness alarm to stop needless deaths. The danger it poses to mother and baby is frequently underestimated and misunderstood. Anyone can get it; it can be life threatening and it can present very suddenly. It is vital all pregnant women know the signs to look for so they can take swift action if needed.

    Solution

APEC's information needs to be easily accessible for all pregnant women and needs to be seen - women are increasingly turning to online searches as their first port of call. This awareness campaign will increase our online presence significantly. We will: 1. Create a wealth of downloadable information on pre-eclampsia. 2. Produce a patient-centred film 3. Increase website traffic in search engines 3. Run a pilot campaign with hospitals in the south west forging relationships with key staff
