Since 2002, we have worked to improve the lives of families affected by domestic abuse, by providing needs-led and trauma-informed practical, emotional and therapeutic support. Middlesbrough has high rates of domestic abuse; we work tirelessly to keep women and children safe and free from abuse.

Situation
Domestic abuse is a huge problem in Middlesbrough: - rates are among the highest in the UK. Women in poverty are particularly likely to experience the most extensive violence. Last year, My Sisters Place received 5560 referrals, our highest level of referrals since opening the service 21 years ago. Domestic abuse is widely accepted as a major public health issue with devastating health consequences and enormous costs to the NHS. My Sister's Place have never worked harder and we need your help.
Solution
My Sister's Place provide specialist support and work with a range of agencies to advocate for survivors to have their voice heard. We provide emotional support and understanding without judgement. We run several community projects including Freedom Programme and are currently developing a wellness group called Stepping Stones which we want to develop into a supportive space for healing women to grow their confidence and skills.
