Waldenstroms Macroglobulinemia (WM) is a rare, incurable and debilitating blood cancer. We’re raising funds to develop a mobile app that places patients at the heart of information, giving them control of their own care while collecting real-world data to create more treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

Situation
WM is a cruel disease. Not only is it long-term and debilitating, but because it’s so rare, there are only two treatments, unlike many other blood cancers. There is a lack of real-world medical data to help with research for treatments and a cure, and even medical practitioners struggle to provide information so patients can better understand and manage their disease. This lack of information places a huge strain on patients' mental health, leaving those suffering feeling disempowered and hopeless.
Solution
Creating a mobile app will do two things: firstly, we will be able to place essential information about WM directly into the hands of those affected, helping them to understand and manage the disease alongside the treatment they might be receiving. Secondly, the app will empower the patients to collect and share (anonymously) real-world data – symptoms, coping strategies, key clinical information – that will help researchers to find more and better treatments and ultimately, we hope, a cure.
