Our environment in the UK is threatened and our native woodland flora and fauna, such as lily of the valley, the dormouse and the nightingale are in serious decline. People have lost their connection with nature and as a result, their physical and mental health & wellbeing is being challenged. Many of our beneficial ancient woodland skills and traditional ways of doing things are being lost, leading to existing indigenous woodlands becoming derelict and unappealing to visitors. .

Small Woods promotes the sustainable woodland management of our existing small woodlands through coppicing which creates a rich mosaic of habitats, attracting a wide range of flora and fauna. Small Woods provides a range of woodland-based activities for some of our most deprived local communities to improve their health & wellbeing along with training courses in green craft skills to make traditional coppice goods providing a living for woodland workers..
