Bloody Good Period provides menstrual products to asylum seekers, refugees and those who can’t afford them throughout the UK. We also provide a burgeoning education programme which works to establish excellent menstrual, sexual and reproductive health literacy in refugee communities.

24% of people who menstruate in the UK say they or their family have struggled to afford period products in 2022 (WaterAid2022). The removal of the tampon tax, and provision of period products to schools and within the NHS, does not tackle period poverty for the many and varied groups of people who experience it. Having a normal bodily function is still financially penalised and stigmatised for many people who fall outside of the scope of these schemes.

We will support more people through increased period product distribution to asylum seekers, refugees, and people that cannot afford them, by distributing pads to over 120 drop-in service centres across London and the UK. In 2022 we delivered 119,600 quality packs of menstrual products. This is an 87% increase compared to 2021. We will continue to prioritise the personal choices and comfort of the people we work with so that they can manage their period in the way that is best for them.
