In Ethiopia's remote areas, limited healthcare access and a lack of awareness compound the challenges faced by children with cleft lip and palates. Without treatment, infants struggle to breastfeed, risking malnutrition and infections. Children with untreated cleft lip and palates go on to encounter additional obstacles in social integration due to prevalent stigmatisation and isolation, fuelled by misinformation and judgement surrounding facial differences.

Our programmes bridge this gap, providing access to free life changing surgeries and support for children with cleft conditions. This campaign will help to provide access to cleft lip and palate treatment for 50 children. Receiving surgery will reduce the health risks that come with living with an untreated cleft. Equally, children are able to return to school, easing the emotional and educational damage that children endure from being isolated from their peers.
