Everyone, everywhere, should have access to a clean, safe toilet. The terrible truth is 76.7 million people in Bangladesh don’t. Without a decent toilet people remain trapped in a vicious cycle of poverty. Help us build toilets to improve health and dignity.

Life without a toilet is dirty, dangerous and undignified. The consequences are dire, resulting in diarrhoeal disease and deaths, particularly of children. Open defecation contaminates drinking water, increases the risk of harassment and sexual abuse, and reduces school attendance. Almost half the population of Bangladesh does not have a clean, safe toilet of their own. It’s simply not acceptable.

We will work with women, and their families in northwest Bangladesh – the region with the highest rate of open defecation – to build decent toilets. The majority will be household level, with shared and community facilities built where space is limited. We will also provide training in good hygiene, advocate for safe sanitation and support women’s savings groups to increase access to low-interest finance for further housing upgrades. Your support will help us reach 1,135+ people in need.
