Situation
Domestic abuse is an epidemic hidden behind closed doors. During their lifetime, 1 in 4 women in England and Wales will experience domestic abuse. Every two minutes someone turns to Refuge for support. Survivors often reach out for support at the point of crisis, but domestic abuse services are often overstretched and struggle to meet demand, and that vital window to provide support is lost.
Solution
Our lifesaving Helpline is at the heart of the response to domestic abuse across England. Available 24/7, 365 days of the year. Our 24/7 Helpline provides high quality practical and emotional support and advice to survivors. We aim to reduce the harm caused by domestic abuse, by empowering callers with information about their rights and options, supporting them to leave their abusers safely (if and when they are ready), and supporting them to rebuild their lives following abuse.
