Our Music Project improves the wellbeing and quality of life of people affected by brain injury: music-making develops skills and boosts self-esteem; sharing music brings our community together. Music activities help people rebuild their identity after a life altering experience – and we have fun!

    Situation

Our Day Service welcomes people living with the long-term effects of an acquired brain injury, often presenting as a complexity of physical, behavioural and cognitive challenges. Consequently, our community is at high risk of social isolation and secondary mental and physical health problems, such as depression and substance abuse.

    Solution

At our Day Service, members benefit from practical and emotional support and a range of occupational and creative activities that create meaningful roles for participants. The Music Project consists of an accessible and open programme, developed according to members’ interests. It is facilitated by two practising musicians who are trained to ensure everyone can participate regardless of their experience, their physical or cognitive challenges.
