The 2021 Census confirmed that 20% of Birmingham region’s population has a disability meaning theatre audiences with mental health condition, autism, sensory impairment or complex needs are growing and the need to champion accessible cultural provision is more urgently needed and critical than ever. As the economic crisis deepens stretching school and family budgets, we want to remove financial barriers so that the most vulnerable communities experience the positive benefits of live performance.

We strive to provide Access for All, present 50+ accessible performances each year: audio-described, captioned, BSL interpreted & Relaxed Performance programme created for people with autism spectrum disorder or complex needs. We are investing in online resources to increase accessibility, plan to expand number of Relaxed Performances & enhance access provision at our outdoor festivals so 6,000 people with a disability can participate and benefit from transformative impact of live performance.
