Situation
Mental health remains a significant public health issue in Lewisham. There are reported higher rates of depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions among Lewisham residents compared to the England average, particularly among those who are unemployed, living in poverty, or from ethnic minority groups. There's also an increased need for our service due to the social and economic impact of the cost-of-living crisis including on mental health, and levels of isolation.
Solution
Local residents in need benefit from our free placements offering weekly therapeutic activities and peer support. We know Sydenham Garden’s warm and inclusive environment makes people feel safe and supported. Whether through an event or a weekly group session, we extend therapy and rehabilitation to as many in our community as possible, increasing inclusion. Your financial support will support our charity to improve the wellbeing of individuals in need and the Lewisham community as a whole.
