Bounce Back 4 Kids (BB4K) is a recovery programme run by PACT for children and their non-perpetrating parent – who is often the mother, so they can go through a healing journey after being domestically abused. The programme offers group and one-to-one support, counselling, and play therapy.

Situation
Thames Valley Police has revealed that 30% of the arrests made in the area in 2022 were linked to domestic abuse; the victim was female in 74.1% of domestic abuse-related crimes. The Children’s Commissioners report confirms 5.75% of Thames Valley’s children (28,070) experienced domestic abuse last year. For young people traumatised by domestic abuse there are limited recovery services which is where PACT and BB4K steps in with therapeutic support for children and their female non-abusing parent.
Solution
BB4K uses therapeutic techniques sessions to support children, teenagers and their non-perpetrating parents who have been domestically abused, to heal from the trauma and to boost the parent’s and child’s confidence, self-esteem and emotional resilience. A parents’ course runs concurrently with the children’s course, an innovative feature of the course meaning that the parent can better support their child after going on a shared journey of recovery together.
