Education is a human right. A person who is educated has better life choices, more agency and higher income. PEAS’ vision is for all children to enjoy an education that unlocks their potential. This campaign will support our mission to expand secondary education to all young people in Africa.

    Situation

Whilst primary education is almost universal across Africa, only 1/3 children attend secondary school. Not enough schools exist and where they do, many provide a poor standard of education and an unsafe environment. Yet, secondary education is one of the most powerful ways to reduce poverty and inequality. In 50 years, half of the world’s youth will be African. Failure to provide access to high-quality, secondary education risks greater poverty, unemployment and instability across the continent.

    Solution

PEAS builds schools and runs one of the largest secondary school networks in Sub-Saharan Africa. Each year, 19,000 students learn at our 36 schools. Our students come from poorer households; they start further behind, get better results and are better equipped for life after school. Our schools are cheaper to run than government schools. Using this practical experience, we partner with governments to transform education at a national level. To date, an additional 190,000 students have benefited.
