Electricity is vital to deliver health services 24/7, power critical equipment, refrigerate vaccines, and deliver babies at night. With your help, we’re hoping to reach 20,000 people with improved healthcare powered by clean energy in rural areas of Kenya and Nepal in the year ahead.

Rural clinics in Nepal and Kenya, often the first point of healthcare for thousands of people, are likely to be off-grid or have limited power access. Without electricity, they can only operate in daylight hours, offer the most basic services and, without reliable cold chain storage, can’t safely store vaccines and medicines. Poor energy access means even simple health problems can escalate quickly and become life-threatening for the people who rely on these clinics.

We’ve already installed solar systems in 23 remote clinics in Nepal and Kenya, benefitting over 47,000 people who would otherwise have to travel miles to reach the next nearest health facility. By December 2024, we will install solar energy systems, alongside refrigeration and other energy-enabled equipment in a further 8 rural clinics where there is an urgent need. We will do this in partnership with local government partners and clinic staff to ensure the systems' long-term sustainability.
