In 2022, for the first time in history, the number of people forced to flee war, violence and persecution worldwide surpassed 100 million. That is more than one in every 100 people in the world, forced to leave their homes. And one quarter of humanity - over 2 billion people - are currently living in conflict zones. This spread of violence across the globe poses a threat to all humankind. We must act now to support people living through violent conflict. We believe peace is possible.
Peace Direct will support locally-led peacebuilding programmes in over 15 countries affected by violent conflict around the world. We will continue to partner with more than 20 local organisations, who are working tirelessly to stop violence and build peace, in the most challenging contexts. Led by the expertise of local people, we will help tackle the root causes of violence, and build stronger, safer communities in the midst of - and after - violent conflict.
