We focus on young women because there is significant need presented in our borough and current support is extremely limited and often inaccessible to girls. The work is focused in Tower Hamlets where statistics tell us that young people living here face the following challenges; high levels of deprivation and inequality, gender-based violence at home and in the community; low aspirations and a lack of female role models; poor mental health and the highest rates of child poverty in the country.
Our team of trained and skilled Young Women’s Workers provide support to girls in Tower Hamlets, aged 11-19 through a varied and innovative programme including; Four drop-in lunch clubs across three schools, a weekly drop-in after school club at a local youth hub, 1-1 mentoring, an empowerment course and regular trips. Our provision is run by our part-time team of skilled staff supported by trained volunteers. Relationships are central to all that we do so we aim to support young women long term
