Situation
Women impacted by the criminal justice system and women at multiple disadvantage face significant barriers to a safe and dignified life. A lack of access to safe housing, difficulties in applying for benefits, exclusion from mental health services due to complex diagnoses, complex trauma and the threat of domestic violence are just a handful of issues faced by the women our service support. Accessing the right support, benefits, forms etc. can be difficult creating further barriers and trauma.
Solution
Our trauma-informed, women only safe space provides gender-specific support that helps the most vulnerable women navigate the barriers to a safe and happy life. We encourage women to decide for themselves what personal goals they would like to achieve (safer housing, better mental health, healthier finances, independence from an abusive partner) and support them on their journey. All in a warm, non-judgmental and supportive space for women to form new social connections and good self-care habits
