MS-UK supports anyone affected by multiple sclerosis (MS) to live healthier and happier lives by improving the understanding of MS and providing support where it is needed the most. Our services include a helpline, online activities including accessible exercise classes, and a bi-monthly magazine.

Situation
Approximately 130,000 people in the UK live with MS and there is no cure. 70% of our MS community say they have experienced loneliness and isolation since diagnosis. This can result in a higher risk of depression, low self-esteem, sleep problems and stress – all of which impacts further on their mental health and wellbeing. Common symptoms like fatigue, pain, balance, bladder and bowel issues are barriers to getting out in the local and wider community to get the peer support they need.
Solution
Our Peer Support service connects people online in groups which are run by trained volunteers living with MS themselves. The Peer Pods enable people to come together from across the whole UK to regularly meet others with MS. They can talk to each other, share experiences, provide support and encouragement and make long lasting friendships in a safe environment. Meeting online removes barriers such as transport and accessibility issues and energy can be saved for other activities.
