Through singing together, The Aloud Charity supports the wellbeing and mental health of young people across Wales. Our choirs provide a safe, inclusive environment for teenagers to express themselves, make friends, find escapism, or share their thoughts with trusted, professional Choir Leaders.
Since 2020, young people have experienced a mental health crisis, with confidence levels plummeting and social anxiety rising. In a 2023 questionnaire to participants of Aloud choirs, 22% said they have struggled with their mental health and an evaluation conducted by Aloud in 2021 found choir members "lacking in confidence" and feeling “extremely anxious". Young Minds report that 83% of young people agreed that the coronavirus pandemic had made their mental health worse.
Aloud runs choirs for children/young people aged 9-19. Rehearsals offer fun and sociable places to make friends and build confidence through singing together. We offer exciting performance opportunities and unique experiences, including residential and international trips. These raise aspiration, support skill development and improve self-esteem. Our professional Choir Leaders provide high quality music tuition and support the wellbeing and mental health of participants as positive role models.
