At 1625 Independent People, our mission is to support homeless young people to be the best that they can be. Most young people we support have experienced childhood trauma. We provide a range of specialist support to ensure they stay safe and gain skills to become independent.

Our Wellbeing Coaches work with young people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or leaving care. Most will have grown up in unstable home environments, suffering abuse, neglect and abandonment. Homelessness may happen due to a range of issues, though the most common are domestic abuse, family or relationship breakdown, high rent and unemployment. Chronic adversity and disadvantage mean young people facing homelessness often struggle with their mental health and wellbeing.

Our Coaches will offer long term, personalised support to 50 young people who are accessing our accommodation services and experiencing issues related to their mental health, such as low self-esteem, anxiety, anger and depression. The work will be focussed around the development of trusting relationships in locations where young people feel comfortable, such as cafes, parks, sports centres, or at home, including our hostel accommodation in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
