At Bluebell, we support parents’ mental health and wellbeing during pregnancy, birth and beyond. We are raising money to sustain our 1:1 peer support service & expand our well-being groups so that no parent has to face perinatal mental health difficulties alone.

    Situation

20% of new & expectant mothers will experience perinatal mental health difficulties. Recent research by University College London suggests that rates of postnatal depression almost doubled during the first Covid lockdown to 47.5% of those with a baby aged six months or under. According to the Maternal Mental Health Alliance, 70% of women will hide or downplay their illness. It is more important than ever that Bluebell exists for parents so they can find support and not have to face this alone.

    Solution

Every year 2,000 parents access our peer support service, therapeutic programmes, well-being groups & activities at our Bristol city centre hub, Bluebell Place. We continually see high demand from parents for our 1:1 peer support service & want to be able to reach more parents. Our well-being groups, led by our peer support team, allow parents to come together, talk openly about perinatal mental health & explore tools to manage their well-being; helping parents feel less alone.
